Your snippets, wherever you work
Run snippets from Apple Shortcuts, Spotlight and Siri. All on your Mac.
Works with the Shortcuts app, Spotlight and Siri
Apple Shortcuts, Spotlight and Siri
Three actions show up when you search for Retext in the Shortcuts app.
Insert Snippet
Expands a snippet into the app you're using, the same way a typed trigger does: fill-in form, dynamic fields, cursor position and clipboard restore included.
Get Snippet Text
Returns a snippet's finished text to the rest of your shortcut, so you can drop it into an email, a note or a message action.
Search Snippets
Finds matching snippets and hands them to the next step of your shortcut.
Spotlight and Siri
Retext gives macOS phrases like "Insert sig with Retext", so you can run a snippet from Spotlight or by asking Siri.
Local and careful
Your snippets don't leave your Mac to make any of this work.
No server, no open port
Retext doesn't start a network listener for any of this. Everything stays on your Mac, and none of these integrations can change your snippets.
Password fields are off limits
Insert Snippet refuses to paste while a password field has focus, and checks again right before pasting.
Questions? Answers.
Which integrations does Retext have?
Apple Shortcuts, with Spotlight and Siri. It works with the snippets on your Mac.
Can I trigger a snippet with a keyboard shortcut?
Yes. Build a shortcut with Retext's Insert Snippet action, then give that shortcut a key combination in the Shortcuts app. Typed triggers keep working as usual.
Do team snippets show up?
Only if you turn on Include team snippets under Settings → Integrations. Then your active team's snippets are included alongside your own.
