Templates that fill themselves in
A saved reply only saves time if you don't have to edit it. The highlighted parts of every template are Retext dynamic fields: Retext asks for the customer's name as the snippet expands, pastes the order number you just copied, and works out the date ten days from now.
The cursor field drops you exactly where the one personal sentence goes, so the reply still sounds like you. Prefer plain text? Every template has a Plain text switch that copies it with [brackets] instead.
;cs-refund-yesHow the library works
Three ways in, depending on how much typing you want to skip.
- 1
Copy it
Use the Copy button on any template and paste it into Gmail, Outlook, your help desk or a Slack message. Nothing to install.
- 2
Add it to Retext
Add to Retext saves the template as a snippet on your Mac with its trigger and fields. Add a whole pack the same way.
- 3
Type the trigger
Type ;trigger anywhere. Retext suggests matching snippets as you type, asks for any fill-ins, and pastes the finished text.
Snippets that work everywhere
Type ;trigger in any Mac app, from Gmail and Outlook to Zendesk, Slack and your terminal.
How snippets workDynamic fields
Fill-ins ask for the name or order number when the snippet expands. Dates calculate themselves, {clipboard} drops in what you copied, and {cursor} puts you where the personal line goes.
See dynamic fieldsPer-app snippets
Keep one trigger with different text per app: a full signature in Mail, a one-liner in Slack, a formal reply in Outlook and a short one in Teams.
Set snippets per appSupport, sales and recruiting teams send the same answers all day. Put a pack in a Retext team and every agent gets the approved wording on their Mac. When a policy changes, an admin updates the snippet once and everyone has it.

Questions
What is a snippet template?
A piece of text you send often, such as a refund reply, an out-of-office message or your signature, saved with a short trigger. In Retext you type the trigger, for example ;ooo-vacation, and the full text appears in whatever app you're typing in.
Are these templates free to use?
Yes. Copy any template and use it wherever you like, with or without Retext. Each one is written by the Retext team, and none is copied from another site.
What does Add to Retext do?
It opens Retext on your Mac and saves the template as a snippet with its suggested trigger, dynamic fields included. If Retext isn't installed yet, you can download it and the template imports the first time you open the app.
What are the highlighted parts in each template?
Dynamic fields. Fill-ins ask you for a name or amount when the snippet expands, dates work themselves out, {clipboard} pastes what you last copied and {cursor} decides where you start typing. Switch to Plain text to copy a version with [brackets] instead.
Can my team share these templates?
Yes. Install a pack into a Retext team and everyone gets the same replies on their Mac. Owners, admins and editors change them in one place in the app, and every member's copy updates.
How is this different from the prompt library?
Snippet templates are text you send to people: replies, emails and signatures. The prompt library at /templates holds prompts you paste into AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor.
